Custom Home Design Mornington: Luxury Farmhouse

A family of 5 recently purchased 1.5 acres of land in Mornington close to Main Street. The land was located in a bush setting with idyllic farm views of horses and cattle properties, perfect for realising their dreams of living on a farm.

The client requested a home design that’s open, spacious and different from anything that’s seen in the area. The land boasts a stunning lake, which was to be a feature of the home. 

Land Restrictions: The vacant land had a building envelope and a gradual slope, which imposed restrictions on the size and location of the home.

Battle Axe Block: The home was situated on a battle axe block, and all construction services needed to be efficiently coordinated from the road to the dwelling location.

Wheelchair Access: Our brief was to ensure the home was wheelchair-friendly. We had to keep the dwelling to one floor for wheelchair access. 

Cost Escalations: With the growing building costs, we had to be proactively involved in the project to reduce construction costs in all areas. This includes working closely with the clients at every stage to design their dream home within their budget. 

The result is a ‘Funky Farmhouse’ custom home design that uplifts its surrounding environment. We made the lake the centrepiece of the dwelling, placing it at the rear so that it can be enjoyed through various sections of the home. 

The contemporary home design has five bedrooms with walk-in closets and en-suites, four living spaces, and a separate granny flat and shed. Energy-efficient solar panels and batteries were also installed to improve its functionality. 

Our client’s new home has received praise from other Mornington homeowners. Their project approval was completed in 5 months, and construction was completed in 18 months. Now, the family enjoys their new dwelling with its idyllic scenery and modern design.
